KATHLEEN & JORDAN - MAGICAL WINTER WEDDING IN ST. JOHN'S // NEWFOUNDLAND WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY
Kathleen and Jordan have hands down been one of the most beautiful, poised couples that I met these past few years. I was so honoured to capture their December wedding day. December weddings in St. John’s have a magic all their own with the kind of unpredictable winter light you can’t plan, but always hope for. Kathleen and Jordan’s wedding day was the perfect reminder of just how special a Newfoundland winter wedding can be.
They chose to begin their day together with a first look, and it set the tone for everything that followed. One thing I’ve noticed with every first look (and something I absolutely love) is what happens right after couples see each other for the first time. Before the kiss, before the nerves settle, there’s always that moment where they just wrap themselves into each other. A big, teary-eyed bear hug. That realization hitting all at once: I get to marry my favourite person!!!! Kathleen and Jordan’s first hug said so much. It was grounding, emotional, and full of that once-in-a-lifetime kind of feeling. Only after they get that moment did they lean in for a kiss.
Kathleen and Jordan are incredibly sweet people, and it’s not hard to see why when you look at the people that raised them and those they surround themselves with. Their friends and family absolutely adore them and hyped them up at every turn throughout the day. Their bridal party deserves a special shoutout for fully embracing the Newfoundland winter, bearing the cold with smiles, laughter, and zero complaints. Truly the best kind of crew to have by your side.
Their ceremony took place at the Emera Innovation Exchange, overlooking the St. John’s harbour. Right before Kathleen walked down the aisle, a brief blizzard rolled through, dusting the city in snow and softening the view outside the windows. And then, almost as if on cue... the storm cleared. The sun broke through and spilled across the harbour, filling the space with the most beautiful winter sunset. After the snowfall, it felt especially meaningful, like a little gift just for them. They followed their ceremony with a reception at the Sandman Hotel with all their friends and family.
I was lucky to have Terry Day Photography as my second shooter. An amazing extra set of hands and eyes, and such a joy to work alongside. By the way, this was my last wedding for 2025 which is probably why this blog post is so long this time haha. You probably won't hear from me for a while but I'll be back next year with so many amazing newlyweds to show off.
Kathleen and Jordan, thank you for trusting me to capture this special time in your lives. Wishing you a lifetime of cozy days, perfect snowfalls, and love that feels just as steady as it did on your wedding day. 🤍
